About the project

Landsnet, responsible for maintaining Icelands electrical grid, faced challenges with their outdated system for logging operational disruptions. The process was inefficient and overly complex, hindering staff performance. To solve this, I contributed to the design and development of Dynkur, a new fault registration system aimed at improving workflow, accuracy, and user experience for control center employees.

UI/UX Wireframes & Workshops

My role began with creating UI/UX wireframes to map out Dynkurs structure. Through collaborative workshops with Landsnets team, we identified the key challenges of the old system and worked to streamline functionality for the new one. These sessions were crucial in ensuring that the new system would meet user needs, making the design process more focused and efficient.

Design System Creation

In the next phase, I developed a comprehensive design system for Dynkur. This system established a cohesive visual language, defining the UI elements, typography, and color schemes to be used consistently throughout the platform. The goal was to make the interface intuitive, allowing staff to quickly log disruptions while maintaining precision and security.

Prototyping, Testing & Iteration

After wireframing, I moved on to prototyping. This allowed us to bring the wireframes to life and simulate the user journey. These prototypes were tested extensively with control center staff, gathering feedback to refine the design. This process of testing and iterating ensured that Dynkur delivered an optimal user experience before the final implementation phase.

My thoughts

The Dynkur project was an excellent opportunity to prioritize user accessibility and simplicity in software design. Creating a system that catered to both expert and non-expert users led to a more efficient, inclusive operation. Working on this project highlighted the value of collaboration and thorough testing, and Im proud to have contributed to a solution that simplifies and optimizes a critical process for Landsnet.
