About the project
The goal of the Verkís project was to develop a sustainable and user-friendly application designed to facilitate environmental impact assessments and enhance project management for Icelandic state road services. The project aimed to create an innovative system that accurately quantifies emissions, streamlines processes, and supports decision-making to promote environmental sustainability in infrastructure projects.
System Design & Innovation
I led the creation of a bespoke design system tailored to the needs of Verkís and its users. My role involved developing an intuitive interface that balances technical functionality with ease of use, ensuring that the application would be accessible to both environmental experts and project managers. The design focused on clarity, accuracy, and supporting informed decisions through clear visual data representations.

Phase 1 Development Strategy
Currently in Phase 1 of development, the project is focused on building the foundational system architecture. I contributed to planning how the application will support real-time data analysis and deliver a seamless user experience. The emphasis in this phase is on ensuring that the platform will be scalable, responsive, and equipped to handle future enhancements as the project evolves.
Sustainability Focus
At the heart of the application’s design is a commitment to sustainability. By enabling accurate tracking of emissions and environmental metrics, the platform will empower decision-makers to incorporate eco-friendly strategies into their projects. The system is intended to help streamline assessments and offer valuable insights that drive sustainable infrastructure development.

My thoughts
Being part of the Verkís project has been a rewarding experience. Contributing to an application that prioritizes sustainability in infrastructure is exciting, and I look forward to seeing the platform evolve as development continues. It’s inspiring to work on a project that has the potential to positively impact the environment and promote sustainable practices in large-scale developments.
